Up for sale, a 1967 Yamaha FG-300 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This uncommon “Red Label” Yamaha Jumbo was the highest tier model available at the time of its release, featuring a six-saddle, fully adjustable bridge and Hummingbird-style pickguard.
The tonewood complement comprises an X-braced spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard, with a lower bout width of 16 1/4” and a depth of 4 1/4“ at the endpin. The sound is big and round, notably punchy and immediate with a dynamic, worked-in quality befitting a seasoned soundboard. Notes are articulate and defined, with an underlying midrange oomph, and the low end is focused with a touch of growl when hit hard. Weighing 4lbs 7oz, this FG-300 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .860” 1st fret, 1.025” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, split rounded parallelogram inlays
-Frets: Slender, leveled and crowned, light wear beneath B and high E strings on frets 1-2
-Scale Length: 25”
