Up for sale, a 1967 Rickenbacker 360 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with a Rickenbacker silver tolex hardshell case. An example of the "new style" 360 body with rounded edges on top and checkerboard binding framing the back, first introduced in the mid-60s, this guitar has been recently refinished in Rickenbacker's custom color Turquoise by Marty Bell.
The 360's semi-hollow construction delivers a natural warmth and breadth, balanced by the articulation and treble detail of maple as a tonewood. Currently outfitted with a Mastery M5 bridge, this piece of hardware notably enhances the sustain and resonance of the instrument, and this 360's prodigious acoustic properties are channeled through the original pair of alnico magnet Toaster Top pickups. From jangling sparkle to smooth percussive cut, each pickup position has a distinct, chiming sound. The guitar weighs 6lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, slinky action and accurate intonation.
The maple/walnut neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and a nearly imperceptible increase in overall heft further up the fingerboard, measuring .795” at the 1st fret and .870" at the 12th. The thick slab padauk fretboard has white binding, red side dots, and triangular crushed pearl inlays that extend all the way to the fretboard edges. The original slender frets have been leveled and are currently quite low, exhibiting no wear of note and fretting cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale. The neck is straight, and the pair of truss rods are responsive and optimally adjusted. The original nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock features a faithful modern replica lucite truss rod cover. The original Kluson Deluxe double line tuning machines are intact and function reliably.
All of the electronics work as intended, with Rickenbacker's traditional five knob layout and stereo outputs. Two of the original CTS pots are intact, dating back to the 17th week of '66, and the other potentiometers in the harness are also vintage, yet date later than the instrument. The GD-prefix serialized jack plate conclusively dates production to April, 1967. Hardware includes an R tailpiece and Mastery M5 bridge (original roller bridge is also included). Plastics comprise the original quintet of knobs and lower tier of the pickguard, while the upper pickguard tier is a modern replacement.
The Turquoise gloss finish is absolutely perfect in its tint and saturation, recently shot by Marty Bell and exhibiting no wear on either the body or neck.
A modern silver tolex Rickenbacker hardshell case with black leather ends and blue plush interior is included.
