Up for sale, a circa 1967 Guyatone LG-180T in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This rare Guyatone’s aesthetics and tonal response reflect just how deeply the surf craze reverberated within the Japanese market at the time; a true oddball model, only produced in ‘66 and ‘67 (in final years of Guyatone production prior to the company’s first bankruptcy in 1969), this guitar features a Fender Offset-inspired design and vibrato, loaded with a pair of “high output” single coil pickups.
This LG-180T has a lively, jangling acoustic character, and those qualities are faithfully captured by the pair of single coil pickups. Described by Guyatone as “high output,” these pickups are sparkling, focused, and immediate, articulate in all positions with a bit more twang at the bridge and more girth at the neck. Weighing 9lbs 8oz, this LG-180T has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
