Up for sale, a 1967 Gibson LG-0 in excellent condition, benefitting from a fresh neck reset. This LG-0 is notable for having an original rosewood bridge, a tonally-impactful upgrade over the plastic bolt-on bridges seen on many LG-0s earlier in the decade. The guitar delivers an extremely bold, authoritative sound with surprising projection and a woody, percussive cut. The trebles are clear and spanky, and the guitar has a full-sounding bass register. The wound strings in particular offer more kick and growl than many LG-0s, with just enough of that boxy snap attributed to the model to carve out its own spot in a mix. This LG-0 is featherweight at 3lbs 15oz, professionally setup with fresh 12-53 bronze strings here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar.
The mahogany neck has a medium C profile carve at the nut, with generous shoulder in every register and a bit more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .845" deep at the 1st fret and .995" at the 9th. The thick rosewood slab fretboard is a dark cut of this particular tonewood retaining the original nigh flawless medium jumbo fretwire. The frets have ample meat and their full factory height, showing just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The neck is straight, the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted, and the guitar plays easily in every register. The original nylon nut is intact and measures 1 9/16" in width. On the headstock, the Gibson silkscreen is nice and clean, and the guitar has been fitted with a modern set of Kluson Deluxe single line strip tuners.
The original rosewood bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, and the rosewood saddle has ideal height, allowing room to raise or lower action to taste thanks to the recent professional neck reset, ensuring the neck meets the body at the ideal angle for decades to come. The top is bound in dark tortoise, matching the transparent tortoise pickguard, and all original braces are in great shape. The original nitro lacquer gloss shows heavy finish checking across the body, with light buckle rash and scattered nicks and scuffs across the back. There is a sliver of wear through the gloss on the back body edge, and one slender repaired top crack on the treble-side upper bout. The neck profile has light clear overspray.
The original black tolex chipboard case is included.
