Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Princeton Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar. One of the very first transitional "drip edge/black line" examples, this amp features a set of unique cosmetic touches including aluminum trim framing the grillcloth and thin vertical black lines on the faceplate, denoting a Princeton Reverb which retains the same circuitry and components as its Black Panel-era predecessor.Arguably the perfect portable Fender package, the Princeton's size, wattage and tonal characteristics are well-suited to a wide range of studio applications while also being an ideal companion for club gigs. This amp delivers both well-balanced, sparkling cleans and smooth, harmonic-rich overdrive when dimed out. The Reverb is lush and the Tremolo has a nice pulse with a wide range of speeds. The circuit retains all of the stock transformers, manufactured for Fender by Schumacher (their primary transformer supplier in the 1960s), dating between mid-1966 and '67. The preamp features all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps, an essential part of the Black Panel sound, along with some rarely seen Mallory "tropical fish" caps. All of the original CTS pots are intact, with visible date codes from as far back as the 16th week of '66. The preamp also features new Sprague electrolytic capacitors, ensuring optimal performance. The tubes include a matched pair of modern, properly-biased EH 6V6 power tubes, with JJ and EH valves in the preamp and rectifier positions. The speaker is the original Oxford 10J4, with a clean black frame and blue foil Fender sticker on the ceramic magnet. The speaker has been professionally reconed, and the dated sticker on the magnet is obscured by the foil Fender label. The tube chart is also present inside the cabinetThe amp retains its original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth which presents extremely well and is studio-worthy. All of the original hardware is intact, including the raised logo, handle caps, chassis straps, and sphinx glides (feet).
