Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Dual Showman Black Panel vintage tube amp head in exceptional condition, recently retubed and freshly serviced. Differentiating it from other Showman heads of the era, the "Dual" variant has an output transformer ideally wound for a 4ohm load (as opposed to 8ohms).

Loaded with a fresh quad of properly biased JJ 6L6 power tubes, this Showman has a sound that is powerful, clear, and sparkling. As Fender's flagship "piggyback" amp head of the Black Panel era, the Dual Showman delivers 85 watts of all-tube power via the AB763 circuit. The Dual Showman is a real powerhouse for guitar, bass, or your favorite Fender Rhodes or combo organ. The low end is ample, and the amp has plenty of headroom and efficient clean power until about 6-7 on the Volume knob, where the signal starts to compress and overdrive. Fresh back from our techs and ready for another half century, this Dual Showman is ready for stage and studio use.

The circuit is very original, retaining all of the original transformers which date between late 1966 and the first weeks of '67. The preamp retains the majority original blue molded Ajax caps, central to the sweet, musical tone that's a hallmark of the Black Panel sound. The preamp features a few new low noise metal film resistors, a couple new caps (high quality Mallory and Sprague replacements) and the majority of the original CTS pots, with visible date codes from '66. The power supply has been recapped with F&Ts. A new bias cap has been installed, along with a three-prong power cable. The tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet, with a "QD" date stamp that translates to April of 1967.

This amp retains the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth, both of which are notably well-kept. All of the hardware is intact, including the piggyback clip bars, handle, corners and raised metal Fender logo. The original faceplate also retains its stock complement of witch hat knobs.
