Up for sale, a 1966 Gibson J-45 ADJ in excellent, 100% original condition with a Cherry Sunburst nitro lacquer finish. A crack-free example of Gibson's J-45 ADJ, this guitar features the original Brazilian rosewood bridge fitted with a height-adjustable saddle. The guitar has an overarching powerful, punchy character, with a rich growl in the bass register, and treble strings that are clear and round with lots of body. A very rewarding strummer, ceaselessly warm without lacking definition, this J-45 is an example ideal for stage and studio use. The guitar weighs 4lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 12-53 bronze strings, comfortable action and accurate intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with round shoulders in every register and appreciable depth and heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .810" deep at the 1st fret and .995" at the 9th. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard retains the original medium jumbo fretwire with good meat, and the frets show only very light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5, playing cleanly in every register with a straight neck and ideally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 24 3/4", and the original nut measures 1 9/16" in width. On the headstock, the original Kluson Deluxe double line strip tuners are intact with original white buttons and clean plating. All of the original braces are in great shape, and the Brazilian rosewood bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, complete with the adjustable plastic saddle. The red tortoise pickguard shows some modest warping, but is well-adhered on all edges. The Cherry Sunburst nitro lacquer finish on top is paired with Cherry back and sides that have aged to a stately shade of walnut. The guitar exhibits heavy lacquer checking on the back and sides, and lighter checking on top, with some strum wear across the soundhole. There is buckle rash central to the back, with much more restrained wear on the back and sides. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, free of palm wear with just a few shallow dings clustered behind frets 8-10.A vintage black tolex hardshell case with gold interior is included.
