Up for sale, a 1966 Gibson ES-335TD in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Boasting a couple player-friendly upgrades, this 335 features a clean stoptail conversion and Lollar Imperial boutique PAFs.This ES-335TD has a lively natural quality and excellent sustain, thanks in part to the stoptail conversion, and the tone has the inherent warmth of its semi-hollowbody construction, yet with the immediate attack and dynamic responsiveness of maple as a tonewood. These qualities translate faithfully through the Lollar Imperial humbuckers, a universally lauded PAF-style boutique pickup which produce an airy top end, balanced midrange character, and a tight bass response, with the harmonically complex sound and articulate, dynamic qualities of the venerable PAF design. The guitar weighs 8lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, spot-on intonation and low action. The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender C profile carve at the nut, with full shoulders in every register and more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .975" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard boasts small block inlays, and on frets 1-12 the inlays have been professionally replaced, while the original inlays are intact further up the fretboard. The original wide/flat fretwire is intact with fairly low crowns yet retain good meat and show virtually no wear, playing cleanly in every register. The nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The headstock is fitted with a vintage set of double line double ring Gibson Deluxe tuning machines (with one even earlier Kluson Deluxe-branded gear in the mix), and the guitar was at one time fitted with a different tuner set, as evidenced by the singular small mounting holes just inset from the original Kluson gears. All of the electronics work as they should, with brand new boutique Lollar Imperial PAF humbuckers with chrome covers. The original ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge is intact with the correct patent number and foundry stamp on the baseplate, and an era-correct stoptail has been installed. The original small mounting holes for the trapeze tailpiece have been cleanly doweled. Plastic parts are modern, comprising a quartet of witch hat knobs, pickup rings, and a vintage-spec pickguard courtesy of C-Rocker.The guitar retains its original very vibrant Ice Tea Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss finish, exhibiting prominent lacquer checking across the body. The finish is exceedingly clean, with just a couple tiny marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile nitro gloss is equally clean and smooth to the palm with just a few tiny shallow marks. An extremely clean vintage Gibson hardshell case is included with black tolex on the exterior, purple plush interior, functional latches, and the original handle.
