Up for sale, a 1966 Ampeg Jet J-12-D vintage 1x12 tube amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Not to be confused with the numerous "Jet" reissues offered by Ampeg over the decades, this is a genuine original J-12-D complete with a full vintage Ampeg-branded tube set. The tone is thick, complex, and clean, with a surprising amount of headroom and punch. Of course maxing out the volume can yield everything from a throaty overdriven roar to fizzy sizzle, and the character of the overdrive can be easily sculpted with the Tone control. Top things off with a thick, throbbing footswitchable tremolo (switch not included), and you have a very impressive and surprisingly compact amp.

The original power transformer is intact, while the output transformer is a properly spec'd modern replacement. The original CTS pots date to '66, and the preamp is virtually untouched, with a bevy of original green Cornell Dubilier capacitors. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. The tube complement includes a matched pair of original USA-made and Ampeg/Sylvania-branded 7591 power tubes and a pair of original Ampeg-branded 6BK11 preamp tubes. The speaker is a vintage replacement made by Eminence, dating to 1969 with a viable cone and alnico magnet construction. The original tube chart is still intact inside the cabinet.

The amp retains its original blue diamond tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth, and the original large Ampeg badge on the face of the amp is intact, along with a modern leather handle. The chrome faceplate has bright chrome plating and moderate surface patina, retaining much of the original white silkscreen lettering as well as the trio of large pointer knobs.
