Up for sale, a 1965 Vox AC10 Twin in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original egg footswitch. A two speaker iteration of Vox's coveted AC10 platform, the AC10 Twin offers an ideal middle ground for studio and live use, with a sweet, dynamic, and rich tonal character that cascades into overdrive with classic Vox sizzle and cut. Featuring the same two EL84 power tube design as the AC15, the AC10 Twin pushes its pair of original Vox-branded Elac 10" alnico magnet speakers for a sound that's positively huge with a mic in front of it, saturating at a volume ideal for smaller rooms and studio environments. This four-input, two-channel amp has distinct, individually voiced channels, and while the Normal channel utilizes a ECF82 for its gain stage, the Vibrato channel features the venerable EF86 valve as its driving force, a tube prized for its harmonically-rich response and a favorite of Vox amp engineer Dick Denny. Channel two also boasts "vibrato" in name only, as this volume modulating tremolo effect has its own dedicated pair of Amplitude and Speed knobs for a smooth pulse that can be activated via the original "egg" footswitch. The circuit is extremely original and given a thorough checkup by our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, retaining the original Wima tubular caps and one Mullard mustard capacitor, along with a host of carbon comp resistors. All of the original Parmeko transformers are present, as are all of the original pots. The tube complement includes a pair of matched vintage British-made Zaerix EL84 power tubes, with a vintage Westinghouse EZ81 rectifier, and a combination of vintage and modern valves in the preamp. The original pair of Elac 10" speakers are exceedingly clean with gray hammerite-finished frames, Vox foil stickers on the alnico magnets, and original cones. The serialized metal model badge is intact on the back of the enclosure, and the blue/gray faceplate retains all of the original chickenhead knobs. The original molded handle, one-point corners, and "Ten Twin" badge on the grillcloth round out the plastics, and the amp is visually stunning with its original black basketweave tolex and diamond lattice grillcloth. The original "egg" footswitch is included.
