Up for sale, a 1965 Supro Model 24 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Freshly serviced, this rare 1x12 vintage tube amp was made in the USA by Valco, the parent company of Supro which also produced amps under the National, Oahu, and Gretsch banners, among others. Offering touch-sensitive cleans and rich, lightly compressed and harmonically rich overdrive, this amp’s unique tonal profile is in part defined by its 6973 power tube pair, pushing roughly 18 watts through a Jensen 12” P12R alnico magnet speaker.
The dual channels have dedicated Volume and Tone controls, with two inputs independently voiced for Bass and Treble, as well as a shared tremolo circuit governed by a pair of Speed and Intensity knobs. The circuit has been freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, retaining both of the original Triwec transformers, dating to the 37th and 44th weeks of 1965. A majority of the original CTS pots are present, with visible date codes from the 41st and 43rd weeks of 1965, with one modern replacement on the Channel 2 Tone control. The power supply has been recapped, and a modern three-prong power cable has been installed. The tube set includes a matched pair of RCA 6973 power tubes, an RCA 5Y3GT rectifier, and two Sovtek 12AX7WCs with one modern valve in the preamp.
The speaker is a vintage replacement Jensen P12R alnico magnet 12" driver, boasting an extremely clean frame and Jensen foil sticker on the magnet, with a date code on the edge of the frame which translates to the 46th week of 1968.
Cosmetically, there are just a few minor marks on the original blue/gray textured covering and silver sparkle grillcloth. The faceplate retains a majority of black silkscreen graphics and original complement of knobs, and the raised “Supro” logo is also present.
