Up for sale, a 1965 Mosrite Ventures Model in 100% original, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original brown alligator hardshell case and featuring a particularly rare Mosrite custom color, Pacific Blue. The most popular and enduring instrument produced by the Bakersfield, CA based Mosrite company, the Ventures model was a joint venture between Mosrite founder Semie Moseley and the band The Ventures. While there have been a fair share of reissues and copies over the decades, nothing compares to the elegance and dynamic responsiveness of the original Mosrite Ventures Model. The pickups are particularly hot and detailed, with top end that is present, round, and clear without being brittle, and plenty of midrange warmth and punch to cut through any mix. The low end blooms and growls while retaining focus, and when in the middle position on the three-way pickup selector toggle, both pickups are wired in series for a very powerful tone. The guitar weighs 8lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with round, inviting shoulders, measuring .870" deep at the 1st fret and .875" at the 12th. The bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard retains the original slender and very flat fretwire which shows virtually no wear. This Mosrite is a true "fretless wonder," playing easily in every register with a straight neck and responsive truss rod. The truss rod adjustment is also located at the heel, one of the last Mosrites to sport the adjustment in this location before it migrated to the headstock end of the neck. The fretboard measures 1 9/16" in width at the zero fret just forward of the aluminum nut. On the headstock, the Mosrite and Ventures logos are in great shape, and the Kluson Deluxe double line tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well. We've also elected to leave a vintage dealer sticker on the back of the headstock. The wiring harness retains the original Switchcraft switch with milled aluminum tip as well as the pair of stock CentraLab pots which date to the 34th week of '65. The stock pickups retain their original windings, with embossed black molded pickup covers. The white pickguard rounds out the plastics, and hardware includes the pair of M-topped knobs and the Moseley vibrato unit which has positively gleaming chrome plating and a quick, effortless response. The Pacific Blue gloss finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and cosmetic wear includes a couple small finish chips on the bass-side edge of the neck pocket and along the lower bout body edge. There are a few small nicks on top behind the bridge, some light finish scuffing across the back, and some additional minor marks on the lower bout on the back and body edge. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is flawless save for a couple tiny marks on the treble-side shoulder behind fret 4, and there is also a small amount of surface wear on the headstock edges where it tapers towards the nut.The original faux alligator hardshell case is included. The case retains clean brown leather ends and a trio of functional latches, while the stock handle is no longer present (yet the gold handle clasps are still intact). A vintage magazine clipping of the Ventures is also included.
