Up for sale, a 1965 Martin D-28 vintage dreadnought acoustic guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A stunning example that's received all the maintenance due a Martin of this vintage including a tall carved bone saddle, carved bone nut, fresh professional neck reset, and full refret, this Martin dialed in to perfection.

Boasting crack-free straight grain solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides paired with a Sitka spruce top and ebony fingerboard and bridge, this D-28 offers brilliant, balanced quintessential Martin square shoulder dreadnought tone with incredible clarity and treble detail. There's plenty of boom and kick in the bass register, and the guitar is extremely lively and dynamic in its response, with the glassy articulation attributable to the ebony fingerboard and bone nut and saddle. The guitar is sweet and very even-sounding for fingerpicking too. Weighing 4lbs 12oz, this Martin boasts fresh 12-53 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a substantial soft V profile shape, bordering on a U given the substance and shoulder of the carve, measuring .925" deep at the 1st fret and 1.030" at the 9th. The ebony fretboard has been refretted with vintage-style wire that has fractionally more height and crown, showing zero wear and playing effortlessly in every register. The upgraded carved bone nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. The gold Martin logo is nigh flawless on the Brazilian rosewood veneer, and the guitar has been fitted with a modern set of chrome Grover Rotomatic tuning machines that turn very smoothly and hold pitch well.

The ebony bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, fitted with a tall carved bone saddle, and the neck meets the body at an ideal angle given the fresh neck reset, ensuring ideal playability for decades to come. The original maple bridge plate has been retained, and the guitar boasts a new tortoise pickguard with vintage-correct mottling and tint. The guitar is crack-free save for the tiny "B string crack" between the guard and bridge which has been professionally addressed.

The nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray and exceedingly well-kept. The Brazilian rosewood on the back and sides is very straight grained, bookmatched on both the sides and back. Cosmetic wear is limited to one small ding on top near the center seam on the lower bout, and just a few finish scratches and minor marks from very careful use on the body as a whole. There is modest pick strumming across the guard, extending lightly above the soundhole and beyond the edge of the pickguard. The gloss on the neck profile is extremely smooth and clean, free of palm wear with just a few microscopic marks central to the V on the profile length.

A modern Martin-branded Geib hardshell case is included.
