Up for sale, a 1965 Harmony Meteor H70 in collector-grade, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A stunningly well-kept example, this Meteor is representative of the model's less common mid-60s feature set, with a maple top (as opposed to spruce), DeArmond "moustache" gold foil pickups, and a six-saddle bridge furnished by Hagstrom for a  Harmony models.Acoustically, the guitar offers a bold voice with plenty of treble cut and projection, and plugged in there's really nothing that can match the balance, clarity, and overall tonal character of a good pair of gold foil pickups. They have a percussive treble cut, tight bass, and a harmonically-rich midrange that sounds great when each pickup is singled out or when paired together. Both pickups have strong output, and when mated with the fully hollow maple body, the sound benefits from both the immediate attack of the maple and the warmth and fullness of the hollow construction. The guitar is featherweight at 6lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings and comfortable action. The maple neck has a proper "baseball bat" C-shaped profile carve with ample shoulder, measuring .935" deep at the 1st and 9th frets. The bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard features the original slender frets which have their full factory height, showing only light wear on the crowns of frets 1-3, playing cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original nylon nut measures 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the original raised metal "Harmony Meteor" badge is fully intact and near mint, and the guitar retains the original open-gear Waverly tuning machines which turn smoothly and have nigh-flawless nickel plating. The DeArmond gold foil pickups feature their distinctive "moustache" covers and adjustable pole pieces to better balance the individual string's output. Both pickups retain their Rowe Industries stamps (DeArmond's parent company) on the baseplates along with matching May 10th, 1965 date stamps. Visible through the bass-side F hole, the original H70 model stamp and 1965 date stamp is present. The surrounds on the gold foils have gleaming chrome plating, and the nickel trapeze tailpiece is also original with light surface patina. Plastics include the original quartet of bright white cupcake knobs with flawless gold lettering and the original red tortoise nitrate pickguard. The guitar features the original vibrant three-tone Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss finish, and cosmetic wear is limited to light pick wear across the strum path and a few light scuffs and minor marks on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss finish too, free of palm wear. The original two-tone chipboard case is included and equally as clean as the guitar.
