Up for sale, a 1965 Holiday Silhouette model 9213 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original chipboard case. Made by Harmony in the USA, this rare Holiday-branded example of the H19 Silhouette is a hardtail version of that model, sold through the Aldens mail order catalog. This Silhouette features a pair of DeArmond “mustache” Gold Foil pickups and a gloss Red Sunburst lacquer finish.
Weighing 7lbs, tonewoods include a poplar body, maple neck, and bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Few pickups can match the balance, clarity, and overall tonal character of the original DeArmond Gold Foil pickups, delivering a percussive snap and twang, tight bass, and a rich midrange that sounds great when each pickup is singled out or when engaged together. This Holiday Silhouette has been professionally set up here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
- Wood: Maple
- Shape: Chunky C, measuring .930” 1st fret, .999” 12th fret
- Fretboard: Brazilian rosewood, 9.5” radius, pearloid block inlay
- Frets: Slender, no wear
- Scale Length: 24 1/4”
- Nut: 1 3/4”, nylon
- Tuners: Open-gear strip
Body Specs:
- Wood: Poplar
- Pickups: DeArmond “mustache” Gold Foil x2
- Controls: Volume x2, Tone x2, three-way pickup selector
- Harness: CTS pots date to the 16th week of 1965
- Hardware: Brazilian rosewood floating bridge, tailpiece cover
- Plastics: Four-ply nitrate tortoise pickguard (July 29, 1965 date stamp), DeArmond mini bell knobs
The gloss Red Sunburst nitro lacquer finish has minor rack rash and a few areas of touch-up on the lower bout perimeter, with a bit of white speckling on top and some tiny chips and nicks on the body as a whole. The smooth nitro gloss on the neck profile has some shallow marks that don't distract the palm.
The original chipboard case is included.
