1965 Gibson Melody Maker D Double Cut Vintage Guitar Cherry w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1965 Gibson Melody Maker D in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Finished in a gloss Cherry nitro lacquer, this Melody Maker D (Double) features Honduran mahogany body construction and a one-piece mahogany neck capped with a rosewood fingerboard, featherweight at 5lbs 4oz.

The pair of robust-sounding single coil pickups combine a Fender-esque snap and twang with the fuller midrange and low end punch that mahogany provides, and the Melody Maker has a raw, bell-like sound and tonal profile all its own. This Melody Maker D has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Cherry Red nitro lacquer finish is bold and saturated with lacquer checking across the body. There is buckle rash on the back and various small dings and scuffs from use, as well as a small repair along the seam of the bass-side headstock wing. The pickup cavities were cleanly routed to accommodate humbuckers, both in width and for the depth of the height adjustment screws. The neck profile has a worn-in, easy-playing feel with some shallow marks along the profile length, smoothed from contact with the palm.

A vintage hardshell case is included.
