Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Super Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This amp has been well cared for over the past 50+ years and hails from early in the second full year of production, retaining the Pre-CBS "Fender Elec Inst Co." faceplate text. Complete with the original two-button footswitch, this Super is a stunner both visually and sonically. Perfect for gigging situations and an ideal recording amplifier, the amp provides you with plenty of pristine Fender cleans until you hit the 4-5 range on the volume dial, where a bit of tube and speaker breakup send the amp into smooth overdrive. The reverb is lush and deep, and the tremolo has a nice pulse, with everything from swampy and slow to machine gun fast tremolo. The circuit is 100% original save for a new bias cap (sleeved in the original Minimite wrapper) to ensure proper voltage is flowing to the tubes. All of the coveted blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp, an essential part of the sweet, musical nature of the Black Panel circuits. The original Schumacher transformers feature date codes spanning mid 1964-early '65, and all of the original CTS pots are present, with visible date codes from the 2nd week of '65. The power supply even retains the original Minimite caps, each individually stamped with factory date codes from the 7th week of '65. A three-prong power cable has also been installed too. The tube complement includes a bevy of mostly vintage valves in the preamp, along with a pair of matched, properly biased 6L6GC Ruby power tubes and matching 5AR4 rectifier. In terms of the speakers, the amp boasts its original ceramic CTS quad with clean black frames and matching 1965 date stamps and original cones. More balanced and full-sounding particularly in the bass register than the alnico speakers more commonly seen in a Super Reverb, these CTS ceramic drivers perfectly capture the nuance, sparkle, and power of the AB763 circuit. Inside the cab, the original tube chart is partially present as well, with an "OD" date stamp which translates to April of 1965.The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are remarkably well-kept, with moderate aging of the grillcloth, only a couple tiny snags, and plenty of sparkle in the thread. The faceplate is also notably clean, with all of the original witch hat knobs. The original nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, chrome tilt-back legs, and raised "Fender" logo are present too, and all hardware is in excellent shape. The original two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch is included. The black paint on the metal switch housing shows minimal wear, and the original paper label is present.
