Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Princeton Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two button footswitch and a full vintage tube set. Freshly serviced and clean cosmetically, this Princeton Reverb is the perfect amplifier for small club gigs and studio sessions. Loaded with the original Fender branded Oxford 10J4 speaker, the AA764 Black Panel circuit delivers both well balanced, sparkling cleans and smooth, harmonic rich overdrive when dimed. The Reverb is lush and the Tremolo has a nice pulse with a wide range of speeds.
The circuit retains the stock transformers, manufactured by Schumacher (Fender's primary transformer supplier in the Black Panel era), dating to 1965. All of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors are present, an essential part of the sweet, musical nature of the Black Panel era preamps, and all of the stock CTS and Stackpole pots are also present, with visible date codes from the 1st week of '65. The electrolytic caps in the preamp and power supply have all been updated, with the original large multi section can cap retained and new power supply caps added inside the chassis. A new bias cap and three prong power cable round out the servicing, and the chassis stamp dates to ‘65. The complete vintage tube set is loaded with a bevy of heavy hitters, with a Mullard GZ34 rectifier, RCA 6V6 power tubes, and preamp tubes from the likes of RCA and Amperex.
The speaker is the original Oxford 10J4 with a blue foil Fender foil label on the ceramic magnet. The speaker has been freshly reconed, and the stamp on the edge of the frame dates to the 15th week of 1965. The tube chart is present, and the "OG: date stamp translates to July of 1965.
The original smooth black tolex is remarkably clean, with only light aging of the stock silver sparkle grillcloth. All of the original hardware is intact, including the raised logo, handle caps, chassis straps, and sphinx glides (feet).
The original black Fender two button footswitch is included.
