Up for sale, a 1964 Mosrite Ventures Model bass in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case.  A genuine vintage USA-made example, this Mosrite bass was crafted in Bakersfield, CA. This Ventures Model bass also has a signature on the underside of the pickguard from Paul Revere and the Raiders bassist Phil “Fang” Volk.

An early example of the Ventures Model bass, this instrument has a few distinctive cosmetic touches including a Sunburst-finished headstock face with larger Ventures logo, a smooth (logo-less) pickup cover and smooth knobs, and a decorative kidney neck plate, concealing the neck bolts. Strung with 45-100 D’addario Chromes flatwound strings, the bass delivers a strong upper-midrange growl and thick, broad low end thump. This Mosrite weighs 8lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.

The pickguard has two different notations on the underside: The Phil Volk signature matches the many available examples of how Volk signs his name, while there is additional script text from a different hand above the wiring harness, likely noting that this bass was to be supplied directly to Volk as an artist accommodation.

The Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss finish is 100% original, with light buckle wear on the bass-side of the back, some dings and finish scratches from use on the body as a whole, and one chip adjacent to the rear strap button. The neck profile retains its smooth matching gloss, with a cluster of tiny marks behind frets 3 and 4 that don’t distract the palm while fretting.

The original alligator tolex hardshell case with brown leather ends and red plush interior is included. The trio of latches are functional, and the original handle is intact.
