Up for sale, a 1964 Guild Starfire IV in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Lifton hardshell case. Crafted at Guild’s Hoboken, New Jersey factory, this Starfire features a semi-hollow maple body, maple neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, a pair of Guild’s Anti-Hum humbuckers, and a gloss Sunburst finish.

Weighing 7lbs 8oz, this Starfire has a natural acoustic tone that's bold and sweet, with a clear treble cut and the foundational warmth of the semi-hollow construction. Arguably the pickup which has become synonymous with the Starfire model, the original Anti-Hum pickups (colloquially known as mini HB-1s) are slightly smaller in stature than a full-size humbucker, delivering a powerful, articulate range of tones with excellent definition and warmth. These pickups have a certain attack and immediacy, with a sparkling treble register and taut, woody wound strings. This Starfire IV benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Sunburst finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, exhibiting vertical checking, some pick scuffing on top extending beyond the treble side of the guard, and a few additional minor dings and finish scratches consistent with careful use. There’s also one line of subtle finish reaction in the clear coat on the back from contact with a strap or cable. The gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean save for some small shallow nicks behind fret 8.

The original Lifton “large pebble” hardshell case is included. The Lifton badge is present in the gold interior outside the case pocket, with functional latches and original latches. There is some gaffer tape on the edges of the case exterior.
