Up for sale, a 1964 Gibson ES-125 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Fully hollow with an arched maple top and back, mahogany rims, and a 16" lower bout width, the ES-125 is a golden-era Gibson with a warm and articulate tone via the original P-90 pickup. The pickup is very dynamically responsive and rich, with an articulate treble bite, smooth growl and rich midrange character, with the inherent warmth and sweet bloom of the fully hollow body. It truly doesn't get any simpler or more elegant than this, and whether you're playing complex Jazz chords or wanting a powerful and present tone for a bit of Americana twang and snarl, this ES-125 is an excellent choice. At 5lbs 12oz, this Gibson is featherweight and has a clear, broad acoustic tone that projects well and is faithfully captured by the pickup. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this ES-125 with comfortable action and 11-49 roundwound strings.

The one-piece Honduran mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with appreciable roundness and shoulder as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .790" deep at the 1st fret and .945" at the 9th. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard sports pearl dot inlay and the original medium jumbo fretwire which retains its full height and well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-4. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features a clean Gibson gold silkscreen and vintage Kluson single line strip tuners with stock white buttons. There are a couple extra mounting holes for a different strip tuner set beneath the currently installed vintage Kluson gears.

There is a professionally addressed V-shaped split on the treble side of the headstock joint, extremely cleanly repaired with zero touchup or overspray and smooth to the touch, holding up perfectly well at full string tension with optimal integrity. The split did not extend to the headstock face or bass side of the joint.

The body retains the original P-90 and wiring harness, and the pickup meters at 7.98k ohms. Hardware includes the original nickel trapeze tailpiece and floating Brazilian rosewood bridge with compensated saddle, which has room for future adjustment at both bridge thumbwheels. A strap button has also been added to the bass-side rim. Plastics comprise the stock single-ply tortoise pickguard with some requisite light pick wear and pair of gold reflector cap knobs that have perfect text on the caps.

The three-tone Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish is 100% original, rich and unfaded with no touchup or overspray, exhibiting  extremely faint vertical lacquer checking. There is a spot of very light buckle rash central to the lower bout on the back, and just a few additional ancillary marks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is nigh flawless.

A modern black tolex hardshell case is included.
