Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Jaguar in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced very early in ‘64, this guitar has all the essential Pre-CBS Jaguar features, including a wide bevel tortoise nitrate pickguard, Brazilian rosewood fretboard with clay dot inlay, and hand-wound black bobbin pickups.
With a lively and very resonant alder body, this Jaguar has a particularly bold acoustic bark with plenty of natural low end. The original staggered pole black bobbin single coil pair delivers the raw twang for which these coils are known, with plenty of body and fullness on tap. The neck pickup is notably thick and meaty, particularly broad and sweet with the Rhythm Circuit engaged, and the bridge pickup has great kick and thwack with a gutsy, round midrange response. This Jaguar weighs 8lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The bass-side seam of the three-piece alder body exhibited some separation, recently reglued flush by our team here at the Guitar Bar, and the gloss Sunburst nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, exhibiting vertical lacquer checking across the body. Cosmetic wear is limited to concentrated buckle rash on the treble-side lower bout on the back and some minor marks consistent with decades of careful usage. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included. Correct for 1964, this logo-less case is very clean, featuring functional latches, the original handle and clean black leather ends.
