Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch and brown canvas Victoria Luggage cover. A remarkably clean and early example of the Deluxe Reverb model, this is a no-excuses Fender with a virtually untouched circuit.Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb is a true Pre-CBS example with a "Fender Elect. Inst. Co." faceplate, no logo grill, and flat metal speaker jack, all hallmarks of the earliest Black Panel Deluxe amps. Stocked with fresh EH 6V6 power tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has a sweet, balanced sound that delivers the top end sparkle and clarity characteristic of the best amps from Fender's Black Panel era. This amp is very responsive to playing dynamics, working as an ideal platform for effects pedals. And while the treble response can cut with the best, there's a smoothness to the top end that keeps the amp from ever sounding harsh. Turning up past 4 on the Volume dial, the amp begins to push into overdrive territory with light compression and plenty of rich, sizzling bark. The Reverb is lush, with long decay, and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three-dimensional quality to the effect when dialing up the intensity. The circuit is 100% original save for a single bias capacitor. A bevy of original blue molded Ajax  caps are intact in the preamp (an essential part of the Black Panel sound), and all of the original Stackpole pots are intact, with visible date codes from the 8th week of '64. The original Schumacher-made output and power transformers date to the 10th and 13th weeks of '64, respectively, and the choke and reverb transformer are also original. The power supply retains all of its original and still viable Mallory capacitors, and the smaller electrolytics in the preamp are stock too. The amp also retains its two-prong power cable (a three-prong can be installed at the buyer's request for no additional cost). The speaker is the original Oxford 12K5 ceramic magnet driver with a date stamp on the edge of the black frame from the 7th week of '64.  The original tube chart is intact, and the "NE" stamp translates to May of '64.The amp retains its practically immaculate original smooth black tolex, and the original silver sparkle grillcloth on the no-logo baffle is also remarkably clean with very little aging and plenty of sparkle in the thread. The original faceplate retains its full complement of witch hat knobs, and all of the original hardware including the corners, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) is present. The amp is complete with its rare and original brown canvas Victoria Luggage cover, a holdover from the earlier Brown Panel amps before Fender switched to the more common black vinyl covers for the Black Panel combos. The original two-button footswitch is also included.
