Up for sale, a 1963 Gibson Skylark Tremolo GA-5T in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with a vintage tube set and original instruction sheet. This pint-sized wonder pushes roughly 10 all-tube watts via a pair of vintage matched 6AQ5 power tubes, with a simple two knob design governing the amp's Volume and the Speed of the tremolo effect. From mostly clean, crisp tones low on the volume dial to sizzling overdrive when you dime it out, this amp is at home in a studio and sounds great with a microphone in front of it. Dynamic and sweet with a vintage alnico magnet 10” speaker, this Skylark Tremolo responds well to a variety of pickups. The point-to-point wired circuit has been fully serviced and recapped as necessary, with all new premium Mallory and Sprague tubular caps in the preamp, and a complete recap of the power supply with Sprague Atoms as well (Gibson capacitors of this era are notoriously leaky and virtually all necessitate replacement). The original transformers have date codes from late 1962 and early '63, and all of the original pots are present. The chassis is pristine, with all of the original silkscreen text present, along with three original reflector cap knobs with pointer graphics on the silver caps (the third knob is a rotary on/off switch). The vintage tubes consist of a matched pair of vintage 6AQ5 power tubes (the tubes have different brands, and have been matched in-house), along with a 6X4 Raytheon-branded rectifier and a pair of 6EU7 preamp tubes. The speaker is a vintage alnico magnet driver, manufactured by Oaktron and while not original to the amp, a great match for the amp's tonal characteristics and also dated to '63.The cabinet sports its original textured brown covering with oxblood grillcloth, as well as the stock leather handle. The original plastic logo is no longer present. There is sparingly little wear on the enclosure, and as the photos show, this is an extremely well-preserved and fully serviced vintage Skylark Tremolo. The original (mostly intact) instruction sheet is included.
