Up for sale, a 1962 Silvertone 1473 tube amplifier in excellent condition, recently serviced and in perfect working order. Officially sold as a bass amp, this amp was made in the USA by Danelectro and marketed through Sears' Silvertone line of instruments. A favorite of guitarists for decades for its smooth breakup, dynamic tube tone, and simple, intuitive control layout, this amp is powered by a pair of Sovtek 6L6 power tubes.
The two channel design features two inputs per channel and dedicated Volume, Bass, and Treble knobs for each pair of inputs. The point-to-point circuit is extremely original, with a few new capacitors as necessary to ensure optimal functionality. All of the original CTS pots are intact, with visible date codes from the 38th week of 1961, and the original transformer pair is also intact, with "1960" stamped on the bell of the output transformer. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. The original Rola 15" speaker has a large alnico magnet (deep enough that Silvertone's original back panel design has a unique porthole) and dates to the 5th week of '62. The silkscreen text on the aluminum faceplate is mostly intact and quite bold, with only light wear through the graphics on the Silvertone name and model number. All of the original large barrel knobs are present, and the smooth black tolex is quite clean with only minor wear on the edges of the enclosure.
