Up for sale, a 1962 Guild Stuart A-500 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Handcrafted in Guild's Westerly, Rhode Island factory, this top-tiered Guild archtop boasts a full 17" wide lower bout and Venetian cutaway, outfitted with a highly sought-after DeArmond Rhythm Chief 1100 floating single coil pickup.
Weighing 6lbs 12oz, tonewoods include a carved, hand-graduated spruce top, solid curly maple back/sides, and a five-piece maple/walnut neck capped by an ebony fingerboard. This guitar delivers plenty of natural projection and power, with a bold, cutting sound that provides the ideal platform for the DeArmond Rhythm Chief 1100. The gold standard for vintage floating archtop pickups, the DeArmond 1100 is extremely sensitive to picking dynamics with a percussive, woody chop, broad lows, and sparkling, detailed trebles. This Stuart A-500 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-52 flatwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
