Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Showman Brown Panel tube amp head and matching 1x15 "Tone Ring" speaker cab in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Along with the Twin, the Showman was the flagship of the early 1960s Fender tube amp lineup, featuring a whopping 80+ watts of power (via a matched quartet of 6L6GC power tubes), and boasting Fender's unique "Harmonic Vibrato" circuit.

Clean, clear and powerful, yet with a richness and full-bodied tonal character indicative of Fender's Brown Panel era circuits, the Showman can throw an incredible amount of sound via its JBL D130F speaker. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Black Panel line, this Showman has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. Perfect for guitar, bass, or keyboards, this is a versatile setup that pairs well with just about anything from the era.

The Tone Ring speaker cabinet is an ingenious design, engineered to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone via a JBL D130F speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal "tone ring." This design makes the cabinet work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you'll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response, and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can't get with any other Fender cabinet. The JBL has been professionally reconed.

The circuit is very original and recently serviced, with all of the original Schumacher and Triad-made transformers, including the highly desirable 45945 Triad output transformer (the legendary "Dick Dale" transformer). The circuit retains a few of the original blue Ajax capacitors, along with numerous high quality Sprague Orange Drops and a few yellow tubular caps (Matchless-branded). All of the original Stackpole pots are present, with visible date codes from the 37th week of '62, and the preamp features new smaller electrolytics to ensure optimal reliability. The power supply has also been professionally recapped with Sprague Atoms, while the power cable is the original gray two-prong (a three-prong cable can be installed at the next owner's discretion). Tubes include a matched quartet of Sovtek 5881/6L6GC power tubes, with matching JAN/Philips-branded vintage valves in the preamp.

The speaker cab features the original JBL D130F 15" speaker, mounted in the stock tone ring, with original baffles and insulation foam. Inside the head cabinet, the tube chart has an L-prefix, dating to 1962.

The original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth is present on both the head and cabinet, Both original dogbone handles are present (and unbroken), and stock hardware includes the original tilt-back legs, piggyback clip bars, thumbscrews, corners, and flat Fender logos. The Brown Panel faceplate is very clean, with a full complement of original cream barrel knobs.

The head and cabinet both come with aftermarket slip covers.
