Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Champ in exceptional condition, freshly serviced and extremely original. Simple and elegant, this vintage Champ boasts the hallowed 5F1 circuit. It doesn't get much more pure than the Champ, and this studio favorite delivers freakishly dynamic and glassy pure tube tone that can go from clean to fully saturated overdrive with a twist of the single knob.
The circuit is freshly serviced, retaining the original Schumacher-made transformers which date to early '62, along with the singular Stackpole pot that dates to the 15th week of '62. The preamp retaining the original blue Ajax capacitors in the preamp and and the power supply caps are a combination of the originals and a few modern replacements, cleanly sleeved in the original Minimite wrappers. The power cable has also been upgraded to a modern three-prong. The chassis itself boasts an extremely clean chrome-plated control plate with all of the original white silkscreen lettering. The tube set consists of a vintage 5Y3 rectifier, and 6V6 power tube, along with a singular modern preamp tube.
The original alnico magnet 8" Oxford E8V speaker has a clean frame, even retaining the stock orange inspection sticker. The stamp on the edge of the alnico magnet is from the 29th week of '62. The tube chart is fully intact as well, noting the 5F1 circuit and stamped with an "LI" code that translates to December of 1962.
The original lacquered tweed is in excellent shape, showing only modest ambering, with only very light wear on the enclosure edges and a bit of staining on the bottom. The oxblood grillcloth is original as well on the stock baffle, and the original upper back panel is intact, with a replica smaller lower back panel aged to match. The leather handle is original.
A Studio Slips padded, zippered case is included.
