Up for sale, a 1961 Hofner Club 60 (model 128) in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This rare early Hofner guitar features hollowbody construction with an arched spruce top, maple back and sides, a five-piece maple/mahogany neck, and an ebony fretboard. The Hofner Club guitars are best known for their appearances in the hands of very young British invasion artists including baby-faced Beatles and David Gilmour, and this guitar benefits from the service due an instrument of this vintage with a professional neck reset.
Featherweight at 4lbs 10oz, this Club 60 has tons of natural resonance on tap, with an overarching warmth faithfully captured by the pair of “Diamond Logo” Super Response single coil pickups. These pickups are round and smooth-sounding, with a rich cut and clear treble sparkle. The Rhythm/Solo switch further broadens the tonal spectrum, for tic-tac snap or fatter, woody sounds. This Club 60 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
