Up for sale, a 1961 Gibson ES-125T in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Fully hollow with an arched maple top and back, mahogany rims, and a 16" lower bout width, the ES-125T is a golden-era Gibson with an articulate, broad natural acoustic tone that projects well, qualities which are faithfully captured by the pickup. The P-90 is big and bold-sounding, offering excellent warmth with a clear percussive cut. The P-90’s distinctive growl and midrange push is on full display when overdriven, and the pickup cleans up well for complex chording. At 4lbs 12oz, this Gibson is featherweight, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and 11-49 roundwound strings. The one-piece Honduran mahogany neck has a very slender, fast-feeling C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder, measuring .780" deep at the 1st fret and .835" at the 9th. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard sports pearl dot inlay and the original medium jumbo fretwire which has been dressed in the guitar’s lifetime, currently showing no wear. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original nylon nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features a clean Gibson gold silkscreen. The original Kluson Deluxe single line strip tuners function as intended, retaining their original buttons and exhibiting uniform surface patina. The body retains the original P-90 and wiring harness, and hardware includes the original nickel trapeze tailpiece and floating Brazilian rosewood bridge with compensated saddle. The neck set is ideal, and the bridge has room for adjustment on both thumbwheels. Original plastics comprise a clean pair of gold reflector cap knobs, the original rounded P-90 cover, and dark single-ply tortoise pickguard which shows some requisite pick scuffing. The stately two-tone Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish has just the faintest hint of red between the ambered center and black edges, 100% original with very tight lacquer checking and just a few minor marks on the top which presents very well. There is light finish scuffing central to the lower bout on the back with minor finish loss and some additional dings at the treble-side waist on the mahogany rim. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is smooth and free of palm wear with some smaller dings and light lacquer checking on the profile length.A modern black tolex hardshell case is included.
