1961 Gibson EB-0 Vintage Short Scale SG Bass Cherry w/ Case

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 1961 Gibson EB-0 in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Introduced in 1959 in response to declining sales of the EB-1, the EB-0 originally came with a Les Paul Junior style body, quickly superseded by the SG style body (like the first-year example seen here) in 1961.

Featuring solid Honduran mahogany construction and a Brazilian rosewood fretboard, this EB-0 is lightweight at 6lbs 12oz. The famous “Mudbucker” pickup delivers pure, fat low-end thump and wooly richness, sitting perfectly in a mix, deftly below the midrange frequencies of guitar and keys. This EB-0 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings and easy-playing action.

The gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish is 100% original, and there is extensive lacquer checking across the entirety of the instrument, with two cleanly doweled holes on top where a thumb rest was previously anchored. The bass shows signs of honest use, with buckle rash and various finish chips and scuffs. The neck profile has a worn-in, smooth feel with some small marks along the profile length.

A modern Gibson USA hardshell case is included
