Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Stratocaster in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. An early slab board example with untouched solder joints and original windings on all three pickups, this Strat has a 12/60 body date and January, 1961 neck date.

The alder body yields an extremely lively and pronounced natural acoustic tone with a crisp, balanced quality and an underlying sonic breadth. Via the three-way selector switch, each pickup has a vital, distinct voice. The bridge pickup has a sparkling cut and bounce, while the neck pickup is round and rich, with the bell-like chime and detail one expects from a classic Fender single coil. Cheating the "in-between" positions on the switch yields quintessential snappy, thinned out squawk. Weighing 7lbs 15oz, this Stratocaster has been professionally setup here at Mike & MIke’s Guitar bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The three-tone Sunburst gloss is particularly bold and unfaded, 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, boasting a strong central ring of red. Plastics are also extremely clean with limited greening of the mint pickguard and bright white pickup covers and knobs. The chrome plating on the bridge base and jack cup is positively gleaming. Cosmetic wear includes cable worming on the treble-side lower bout on the back, and faint strap-related wear in the black of the Sunburst behind the bridge on top. The clear coat on much of the back has a faintly matte presentation, consistent with contact with the case lining, and there are various small finish chips and dings, largely on the body perimeter. The gloss on the neck profile is extremely smooth with sparingly little wear.

The original brown tolex hardshell case with gold interior is included; the handle is intact and all three original latches are functional.
