Up for sale, a 1960's Teisco MJ-2L electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Made in Japan, this small solid body Teisco is a quality instrument boasting the stock pair of single coils. The pickups are bold and snappy with plenty of top end clarity and sparkle. The low end is round and rich, and the tone control has a wide sweep that can quickly take the bridge pickup from biting twang to mellowed out, punchy tonalities. The single coils are percussive and strong, and chords ring out with good string to string definition and chime. Lightweight at 7lbs 6oz, this Teisco has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings and comfortable action.

The neck has a full C shaped profile that fills out with more chunk as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .895” deep at the 1st fret and 1.030” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features rectangular position markers and stock slender fretwire. The frets have their full factory height, playing cleanly in every register with virtually no wear to report. The scale length is 24 3/4“, and the nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. The headstock features an early disc Teisco badge on its face, and the open-gear tuners with white plastic buttons turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The small serial/model plate is present below the four-bolt neck plate.

On the body, all of the stock electronics work as they should, with individual dished on/off pickup switches for the pickup pair. The vibrato has a Bigsby-esque design for surfy warbles and dives, complete with the original long curved vibrato arm and working in concert with the space control-style bridge. The striped aluminum pickguard is stunningly clean, along with the quartet of black reflector cap knobs. The gloss Metallic Blue finish has a touch of yellowing in the clear coat with subtle flashes of green. Cosmetic wear is limited to light scuffs and marks mostly relegated to the perimeter of the body. The gloss finished neck profile is quite clean with a few tiny scattered shallow marks that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
