Up for sale, a 1960s Silvertone H1427 "Espanada" archtop electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Produced by Harmony in the USA for sale via the Sears & Roebuck catalog, this guitar is virtually identical to the Harmony-branded "H63" model in all but name and features a pair of P-13 pickups.

One of the finest guitars to ever carry the Silvertone (or Harmony) name, this archtop boasts a 16 1/2" lower bout width, 2 3/4" body depth, and a natural acoustic tone that's bright and percussive. Essential for Jump Blues and Jazz, the P-13 single coil pickups were a design that preceded the P-90, with a slightly meatier and darker tone. The particular P-13s in this Espanada are a modern boutique pair hand-wound by Curtis Novak and faithful to the originals in every detail. Through your favorite vintage tube amp, the Espanada has lovely top end cut and sparkle, with a bass response that ensures a certain sweetness and bloom to the notes without being boomy. Truly one of the cooler vintage pickups ever produced, the P-13s compliment an archtop that's stately and alluring with its "tuxedo" appointments and nickel hardware. This Silvertone Espanada weighs 6lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and a fresh set of 10-46 strings.

According to the original catalog description, this Silvertone "is designed for the fullest possible expression of modern guitar technique, affording sharp treble tones, deep bass, and all the in-between shadings which may be desired in lead or rhythm work."

The neck has a deep U-shaped neck profile carve with generous shoulder, measuring .950" deep at the 1st fret and 1.015" at the 9th. The dyed maple fretboard sports pearloid block inlays and cream binding, professionally refretted with vintage-spec slender fretwire. There is finger wear into the maple fretboard itself on the treble side of the board from frets 1-3 which has no impact on playability. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the original bone nut measures 1 3/4". On the headstock, the original Waverly open back tuners are intact and turn smoothly. The raised metal "Silvertone" logo is also present on the headstock face.

All of the electronics work as they should, with the Curtis Novak-made P-13 pickups wired to a modern harness with properly spec'd CTS pots and premium tone caps. The pickups are mounted in original transparent pickup rings (painted white on the bottom), and the guitar is fitted with a modern replica carved rosewood Harmony-style bridge with correct saddle insert. Plastics include a modern quartet of cream "cupcake" knobs, and the pickguard is also a modern replacement that matches the distinct shape of the original.

The original gloss Black nitro lacquer finish shows light overspray on top adjacent to the fretboard extension on the bass side, with heavy lacquer checking on the sides, finish scuffing in the clear coat of the gloss on the bass side of the top, and a few additional finish scratches and minor marks on the body as a whole. A strap button has been added to the neck heel, and there are just a few tiny finish chips on the length of the neck profile.
