Up for sale, a 1960's Guyatone lap steel in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This vintage Japan-made lap steel is freshly restrung with roundwound 10-29 strings, offering a sparkling, clear sound with plenty of chime and clarity as well as the low noise floor provided by the humbucker pickup design. The Tone control is located forward of the Volume, and the Tone works in reverse, with maximum bass when the knob is dimed.
The molded plastic playing surface has block position markers, and the steel has a 20 1/2" scale length with 1 3/4" string spacing at the large plastic nut. The headstock retains the raised Guyatone logo, and the original strip tuners are also present.
The electronics function as intended, and the humbucker has been freshly rewound to original spec. String spacing at the bridge is 2", and the hardware has gleaming chrome plating. Plastics include the original pair of barrel knobs. The white gloss finish has light uniform aging of the clear coat with deeper yellowing flanking the playing surface on top. There are scattered finish chips on the body perimeter, and some additional minor scuffs and nicks on the back.
