Up for sale, a 1960's Guyatone Conquerer HG96C lap steel in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Made in Japan, this is one of the nicest steels ever offered by Guyatone, boasting a sleek Black finish and all gold hardware. The two pickup design is reminiscent of Fender's Champion and Stringmaster models, and the tone is warm and defined, with enough top end snap and sparkle to satisfy the most ardent Hawaiian steel fans. Each pickup can be selected individually, or both can be engaged together, with a fourth setting labeled “Soft.” This Guyatone has been freshly restrung with 11-49 roundwound strings. The lucite playing surface has a 22 1/2" scale length and 29 fret range with "G" position markers. The nut measures 2 1/8" in width, and the headstock features a clean Fender-style gold plate with original tuners that turn smoothly. The gold plating is notably clean, and the controls include dished rocker on/off switches for each pickup and large witch hat V- and T-labeled Volume and Tone knobs. There is a Guyatone badge on the side of the steel facing the audience, and the gloss Black finish is extremely well-kept, showing just a few tiny finish chips on the body parameter. This Guyatone steel is complete with the black tolex original hardshell case. This case is the same as used for Guyatone's console steels (thus the unused legs compartment).
