Up for sale, a 1960's Guyatone HG-306C console lap steel in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and legs. Made in Japan, this is one of the nicer steels ever offered by Guyatone, with a two pickup design reminiscent of Fender's Champion and Stringmaster models. Featuring a gloss white-finished ash body, the tone is warm and defined, with enough top end snap and sparkle to satisfy the most ardent Hawaiian steel fans. Each pickup can be selected individually, or both can be engaged together, with a fourth setting labeled “Soft.” This Guyatone has been freshly restrung with 12-52 roundwound strings.
The playing surface has a 25 fret range with geometric inlay, and the headstock features a clean Fender-style chrome plate with original tuners that turn smoothly. The small paper "Steel Guitar" label is intact on the back.
The chrome has plenty of shine with some minor pitting on the tuner plate and leg flanges, and the original knobs are intact with clean graphics on the black hexagonal switch plate. The original white gloss finish shows very light yellowing on the sculpted body, with a few tiny chips and scuffs on the parameter of the instrument.
This Guyatone steel is complete with the black tolex original hardshell case and trio of legs.
