Up for sale, a 1960's Guyatone HG-108 8-string lap steel guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original fitted gigbag. Made in Japan, this rarely seen Guyatone model borrows features from Fender's Deluxe steel design, with a two-tone cream and black finish, loaded with the original oversized single coil pickup. The pickup channels a singing upper midrange sparkle, with enough underlying harmonic warmth to produce an overall sweet yet focused cut. This Guyatone has been freshly restrung here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 roundwound strings.
The lucite playing surface has a 22 7/8" scale length and 30 fret range with "G" position markers. The nut measures 2 3/4" in width, and string spacing at the bridge is 2 15/16”. The headstock features a metal “G” Guyatone logo badge and the original tuners with cream lollipop buttons that turn smoothly.
The stock electronics work as they should, with Volume and Tone controls for the pearloid covered single coil pickup. The original black knobs are present, and the chrome hardware is bright and clean. Cosmetic wear on the two-tone gloss finish is limited to some light scattered nicks and finish scratches on the body as a whole, consistent with careful use.
The original fitted faux leather gigbag is included.
