Up for sale, a 1960's Crucianelli Elite vintage archtop electric guitar in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A rare Italian brand which shifted its primarily accordion-focused business to guitar production in the early '60s, the Crucianelli factory is best known in guitar circles for producing many of the guitars to bear the Vox and Baldwin names during the height of the British Invasion.Unlike the somewhat more common (relatively speaking) Vox/Baldwin instruments, this Crucianelli is a virtually unseen and exceedingly rare upscale model. Featuring fully hollow maple body construction and featherweight at 5lbs 15oz, this Crucianelli has a self-contained floating dual pickup assembly with a pair of three-way switches governing the pickups. The guitar delivers a spanky, gutsy sound with a nice midrange chop and treble sparkle. Notes are clear and defined, and this archtop makes an excellent analog for an acoustic archtop (or flattop) reproducing a dry, crisp sound. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've strung this Crucianelli with 10-46 roundwound strings, dialed in for comfortable action and accurate intonation. The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with more shoulder and roundness as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .990” at the 11th. The bound rosewood fretboard has large dot inlay, and the original slender fretwire has a low fret dress, showing just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4. The guitar plays easily up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck, and the fretboard measures 1.650" in width at the zero fret just forward of the nut. The bound headstock face features a metal truss rod cover, and the original tuners are intact, functioning as intended. The electronics all function as intended, and the forward three-way is the pickup selector. The back three-way is a Tone switch, with the most robust sound available in its central position (presumably a bypass) with thin and thinner sounds available in the Up and Down positions. The Tone knob is forward of the Master Volume, located just in front of the 1/4” jack, also part of the floating pickguard assembly. Knobs move smoothly without static, and the switches engage with a satisfying click in each position. Hardware includes the floating rosewood bridge with fretwire saddle, and save for some requisite pick scuffing, the pickguard assembly is remarkably clean with bright chrome plating and flawless “Steelphon” text on the pickup covers. The finish is a light pinkish Sunburst with the "Elite" silkscreen on the bass-side upper bout. Cosmetic wear is limited to light finish checking at the edge of the neck pocket, some light finish scratches central to the lower bout on the back, one tiny extra pickguard mounting hole at the treble-side waist, and just a few additional minor marks on the instrument as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless. The original black tolex hardshell case is included with functional latches and the original handle. The case has a red plush interior, and much of the tolex is missing from the case exterior.
