Up for sale, a 1960 Rickenbacker 360 Capri in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. This Capri has all the hallmarks of Rickenbacker’s golden age of production, boasting a unique feature set that lasted for just a few short months in 1960 including a full 2” body depth (predating the slimming and reshaping of the body in ‘61), stereo “Rick-o-Sound” jack plate, gold lucite two-tiered pickguards, and “oven” knobs.
Finished in the original gloss Fireglo, this Rickenbacker is the pinnacle of Mid Century design, with a distinctive European flair courtesy of Rickenbacker designer Roger Rossmeisl. The 2” deep semi-hollow maple body (maple centerblock) ensures that this instrument has terrific natural resonance and treble chime. The Toaster pickups deliver classic jangle and percussive rhythm, with notably power and smooth breadth at the neck and focused spank and treble-centric cut at the bridge that provides a fantastic counterpoint. The Tone controls work in reverse, with the darkest, smoothest tones with the knob at its max, and the most articulate treble with the knob rolled back. This 360 Capri weighs 7lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The modern Rickenbacker bridge has been repositioned fractionally, ensuring optimal range at the saddles for intonation purposes. An extremely well-preserved example on the Capri model, the Fireglo finish exhibits modest shallow buckle wear on the back, one touched-up finish scratch on top to the bass side of the tailpiece, and some minor nicks and scuffs from decades of careful use. The neck profile has a smooth, inviting feel, with palm wear through the gloss along the carve.
A Rickenbacker silver tolex hardshell case is included, along with the original bridge.
