Up for sale, a 1960 Martin D-18, freshly serviced and complete with a hardshell case. This well-loved Martin has received extensive work due an instrument of its mileage, including a professional neck reset, refret, bridge plate repair, new bone saddle, several repaired splits, and a few replaced braces. Crafted at the North Street factory, this D-18 boasts a bevy of desirable features including hot hide glue construction throughout, a small maple bridge plate, tortoise binding and pickguard, and a rounded peghead. This D-18 has also been personalized with a custom sterling silver plate engraved with a previous owner’s name (Michael) at the 14th fret.

Tonewoods include an X-braced spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, offering a traditional Martin dreadnought tonal profile. This D-18 absolutely sings, with fantastic projection, power and immediacy, and there’s an open, ringing quality to the sound that is indicative of a top that’s been seasoned and played hard for decades. Notably balanced and musical, there’s a woody, percussive chime to the trebles that stands up well to the rumbling warmth and expansive bloom in the low end. This D-18 weighs 4lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.

There is buckle rash on the back, pick wear across the soundhole and various dings and scuffs throughout. The gloss on the neck profile has a handful of shallow marks smoothed through contact with the palm, and grooves on the fingerboard extending from frets 1-2 have been filled and smoothed with the surrounding rosewood.
