Up for sale, a 1960 Gibson ES-125TDC in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. An extremely well-kept first year example of the ES-125 TDC, this is one of very few double pickup cutaway ES-125s produced in '60, with the R-prefix Factory Order Number visible through the treble-side F hole.
The tonewood complement comprises a hollow thinline maple body, Honduran mahogany neck and a Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The instrument has a bold, lively natural acoustic quality, benefiting from the warmth of the fully hollow construction paired with the dynamic snap of maple. The P-90s are rich and powerful-sounding with midrange growl, glassy treble snap, and woody bass register cut. This guitar is featherweight at 5lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-52 strings (wound G), low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Cherry Sunburst nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, exhibiting very fine, faint vertical checking. There is some graceful fading of the Cherry color on the back, given the less stable dyes used by Gibson before the formulation changed in the early ‘60s, as well as some diffusion of the red in the Sunburst on top, while still retaining a rich appearance. Cosmetic wear is otherwise limited to a few light finish scratches and minor marks consistent with very careful use.
A vintage (non-original) hardshell case is included with a green plush interior, black alligator exterior, functional latches and the original handle.
