Up for sale, a 1960 Epiphone Century E-422T in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. As a USA-made Epiphone model produced under Gibson ownership at the same Kalamazoo, MI factory that crafted all of Gibson's instruments in the '60s, the E-422T Century has the same tonewoods, electronics, and hardware as a Gibson ES-125T.

Distinctive and highly desirable Epiphone cosmetics include the metal "bikini" headstock plaque, white P-90 cover, and "E" epsilon foil sticker on the tortoise pickguard. This vintage thinline archtop makes the most of its fully hollow maple construction, offering a big, clear sound and smooth bark that translates well through the centrally located pickup. The P-90 is wound nice and hot and 8.6k ohms, delivering a rich percussive chop when chording. Warm and sweet, the pickup is responsive to pick attack with punchy trebles and a textured growl when you dig in hard. The Century is featherweight at 5lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 12-52 roundwound strings, easy-playing action and accurate intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a very slender C-shaped profile carve with modest shoulder at the nut, staying slim and fast-feeling as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .795" deep at the 1st fret and .865" at the 9th. The thick Brazilian rosewood fretboard sports pearl dot inlay and the original medium jumbo fretwire which retains its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only faint wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-3. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale length, and the neck is straight with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original nylon nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the guitar features the original set of Kluson Deluxe single line strip tuners with uniform patina on the nickel plating and stock white plastic buttons. The original metal Epiphone "bikini" badge is also present and very clean.

On the body, the guitar features stock electronics with an untouched wiring harness. Hardware includes the Brazilian rosewood bridge with compensated saddle and nickel trapeze tailpiece. All of the stock plastics are intact, with gold reflector cap knobs, a white P-90 cover with correct part number stamp on the underside, and single-ply transparent tortoise pickguard complete with foil "E" epsilon. The blue rectangular label is visible through the F hole, stamped with the A prefix serial number.

This three-tone Sunburst gloss finish is vibrant on top, with a darker walnut back and rims, showing prominent vertical lacquer checking across the back and light wear through the finish on the bass-side lower bout. Wear on the back and rims is otherwise limited to a couple faint scuffs and small dings, and the top presents extremely well with sparingly little wear. The neck profile retains its smooth nitro gloss, free of palm wear with just a few minor marks on the profile length.

A vintage black tolex hardshell case with a gold plush interior is included. The case is deeper than the Century and a good tote, retaining the original latches and handle.
