Up for sale, a 1959 Gibson ES-125T in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original premium hardshell case (a rarity for this model, which usually was paired with a chipboard). Fully hollow with an arched maple top and back, mahogany rims, and a 16" lower bout width, the ES-125T is a golden-era Gibson with an articulate, broad natural acoustic tone that projects well, qualities which are faithfully captured by the pickup. The P-90 is big and bold-sounding, metering at 8.5k ohms, offering excellent warmth with a clear percussive cut. The P-90’s distinctive growl and midrange push is on full display when overdriven, and the pickup cleans up well for complex chording. Featherweight at just 5lbs 4oz, this Gibson has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation. The one-piece Honduran mahogany neck has a chunky C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders, more in-line with Gibson's heartier neck carves from 1958, measuring .895” deep at the 1st fret and .999” at the 12th. The dark Brazilian rosewood fretboard has pearloid dot inlay and notably clean original medium jumbo fretwire which has well-rounded crowns. The frets shw only light wear beneath all strings on frets 1-2, with even fainter wear extending beneath the plain strings until fret 6. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nylon nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features a clean Gibson gold silkscreen. The original Kluson Deluxe single line strip tuners function as intended, retaining their original buttons. The original electronics all function as intended, with the P-90 governed by Master Volume and Tone knobs. The wiring harness is untouched, with the original pots and paper-in-oil tone cap visible through the treble-side F hole, along with the S-prefix Factory Order Number, which dates to 1959. Hardware includes the original nickel trapeze tailpiece and floating Brazilian rosewood bridge with compensated saddle. The original neck set is ideal, with a small amount of room for future adjustment on both bridge thumbwheels and a consistent arch to the top. Plastics comprise the original single-ply dark tortoise pickguard, P-90 cover, and gold bonnet knobs. The three-tone Sunburst gloss nitro lacquer finish has a bold central ring of red between the ambered center and black edges, 100% original with no touchup or overspray, exhibiting faint vertical lacquer checking on top, and more pronounced checking across the back. This is an extremely well-kept example, with cosmetic wear limited to signs of light, careful use including some small nicks, largely relegated to the lower bout body perimeter, and some faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth nitro lacquer gloss, free of palm wear, with just a few exceedingly small marks on the profile length. The original large pebble black tolex hardshell case with gold plush interior is included. This case is uncommon for this model tier, usually seen only with upscale Gibson models. The case retains its original latches and handle, with the small Gibson badge on the case exterior.
