Up for sale, a 1959 Fender Tremolux in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a vintage “doorstop” footswitch. One of the most tonally distinctive and sweet sounding amps of Fender's late 1950s "Narrow Panel" Tweed era, the Tremolux essentially combined the tonal richness and dynamic, touch-sensitive circuit of a 5E3 Deluxe with a bias-based footswitchable tremolo. Powered by a pair of 6V6 power tubes, this Tremolux has the same harmonic content, smooth tube breakup and glassy tone of a Deluxe, yet the larger open back cabinet on a Tremolux gives the tone more depth, low end, and roundness. Like any four-input Tweed Fender, the magic really happens when the two channels are jumpered together, with the independent Volume controls used to dial in the perfect amount of clarity and grit. With the addition of Fender's earliest tremolo circuit (a bias-based design that essentially turns the power tubes on/off to create the effect), the Tremolux is a versatile and impressive amp, delivering a trem circuit with a strong pulse and good range of speeds.

The preamp and power supply have been professionally recapped to ensure optimal performance, with premium Mallory-branded Astron-style caps in the preamp and Sprague Atoms in the power supply. Two of the original Triad transformers are present, with a replacement Schumacher-made output transformer dating to the 13th week of ‘64. All but one of the original CTS pots are present, dating to the 1st and 6th weeks of ‘59. A bias adjustment has also been added, and a modern three-prong power cable has been installed. The tube set includes a matched pair of Electro-Harmonix 6V6GT power tubes, a JJ 5U4GB rectifier, and a trio of JJ valves in the preamp.

The speaker is an era-correct Jensen P12P, professionally re-coned and boasting alnico magnet construction with a clean frame and date stamp translating to the 42nd week of 1960. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet, with an "IB" date stamp translating to February, 1959.

The cabinet has been professionally re-tweeded with lightly ambered diagonal tweed, and the original speaker baffle has also been fitted with new oxblood grillcloth. The faceplate shows only modest wear, with nearly all of the white silkscreened text, bright chrome, and original chicken head knobs. The leather handle is a modern replacement paired with the stock handle mounts, and other stock hardware includes the "Tremolux" badge on the face and four sphinx glides (feet) on the bottom.

A vintage “doorstop” wooden footswitch is included (this footswitch would have originally come with a Magnatone 480).
