Up for sale, a 1956 Gibson Les Paul Junior in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original chipboard case and matching hangtag. 100% original save for a professional refret and hand-carved bone nut, this two-owner example of the Junior model is an extremely soulful instrument.

The sound is everything you expect a great Junior to be, and the solid Honduran mahogany construction delivers an acoustic voice that is extremely authoritative and clear. From the quintessential meaty neck profile to the perfect growl and harmonic richness of the P-90 pickup, this Gibson truly delivers on the brand's golden era reputation. Featherweight and lively at 6lbs 8oz, the instrument feels very substantial when you dig in hard, with a distinctive sparkling top end due in part to the aluminum wraparound tailpiece. For sweet P-90 single coil tone that can range from chiming, dynamic cut to roaring, all out raucousness through your favorite tube amp, this guitar has a versatility and tonal depth that belies its simple yet elegant appointments. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this guitar is strung with fresh 10-46 strings and dialed in for low action.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a nice round baseball bat C profile carve with ample shoulder, measuring .915" deep at the 1st fret and 1.010" at the 12th. The extremely dark and tight-grained Brazilian rosewood fretboard has been recently professionally refretted with Jescar 47095 .095"x .047" fretwire. These "narrow, tall" frets have similar width to vintage wire with a bit more crown for longer fret life and effortless bending, showing no wear and playing cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale. An upgraded hand-carved bone nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the original Kluson Deluxe single line tuning machines are intact with their original white buttons. The serial number is still vibrant and clearly inked on the back of the headstock, along with the gold silkscreen Gibson logo and "Les Paul Junior" script text on the headstock's face.

The electronics work as they should, with the original P-90 metering at 8.26k ohms, and untouched solder on the wiring harness which retains original pots and Bumblebee tone cap. The lightweight aluminum wraparound bridge is intact, and the bridge posts are some of the very first ones available that have the longer, proper depth into the body. The bridge has zero forward pull, and there is wear into the metal beneath the strings, notching the aluminum and actually providing a bit more stability. Original plastics include the P-90 cover, pickguard, back plate, jack plate, and amber bell knobs, all of which are notably well-kept.

The Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and the reddish aniline dye is prominent on top in the grain of the mahogany. Cosmetic wear includes some pick wear across the guard, with a few dings into the mahogany between the edge of the guard and Volume knob. There is wear through the gloss on the back lower bout body edge and to a lesser extent on the upper bout edge, with various finish scratches and small dings on the back consistent with decades of honest use, and similar but far more restrained wear on top. The neck profile exhibits some very shallow scuffs through the nitro gloss on the neck profile, yet nothing deep or distracting to the palm while fretting.

The original chipboard case is included and stunningly well-kept, with a practically pristine faux alligator exterior, clean leather trim, functional latches, and the original handle. The original hangtag is also included and stamped with the Junior model designation.
