Up for sale, a 1956 Fender Champ steel in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Featuring its original nitro lacquer Desert Sand finish, this Champ has been outfitted with a vintage black bobbin Fender flat-pole pickup from the '60s, faithfully replicating the tonal response of the original single coil. The tone is quintessential Fender richness and chime with a bell-like sweetness to the sound that is equal parts twang and silk. This steel has been freshly restrung here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 11s.The playing surface is clean with block position markers, and the patent pending chrome Fender headstock cover plate houses the stock single-line Kluson tuners. The scale length is 22 1/2", and string spacing at the bridge is 2".The electronics include the '60s Fender pickup, modern CTS pots, and a replica red Astron "dynamite" tone cap. The chrome plating on the control plate still has plenty of shine, and the steel is fitted with a pair of modern knurled knobs. The original Fender waterslide decal is intact, and the Desert Sand finish shows modest wear on the edges of the slab body, particularly on the corners on the bass-side edge.A circa-1960s vintage Fender hardshell case is included with raised logo on the exterior and a compartment for legs (this case was originally paired with a console steel).
