Up for sale, a 1954 Les Paul Standard in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Lifton hardshell case, strap and coily cable. A one family-owned example that lived its life in Washington State, this Les Paul comes with a wealth of provenance, including images spanning the life of the guitar with its sole owner, passed from father to daughter, with a letter from the daughter detailing the life of the instrument.
An “All Gold” variant, the original gold nitro lacquer finish extends to the mahogany body and neck profile. Notably lightweight for a Les Paul at only 8lbs 5oz, this Gibson has a resonant sonic foundation comprising a carved maple cap and Honduran mahogany body, yielding the note attack and detail of maple and the fundamental warmth and smooth growl of mahogany.
The P-90 pair offers a distinct sound in each pickup position, measuring 7k ohms in the neck position and 7.2k ohms at the bridge. While both P-90s have fairly conservative winds, they have ample perceived output, harmonically-rich and very responsive to playing dynamics, with a bridge pickup that offers snarl and attitude, delivering a sparkling treble spank and midrange honk. The pickups are in-phase when engaged in the middle position on the three-way switch, and the neck pickup is warm and woody, with a smooth, open quality that has plenty of low end richness without sacrificing vital treble articulation and bounce. Either clean or with considerable overdrive, this Les Paul excels. This Les Paul benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The "All Gold" nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, exhibiting limited checking and relatively little oxidation save for an area on the back central to the lower bout, likely from prolonged contact with a strap or the case lining. There is modest finish loss along the back body edge (particularly on the treble side of the body), and additional small dings and scuffs consistent with ~70 years of careful usage, largely concentrated at the lower bout. The neck profile has a comfortable, inviting feel, showing the usual greening/oxidation of the gold from contact with the palm. Wear in this area is on par for an All-Gold variant, buffed smooth from subsequent play.
The original brown Lifton hardshell case with pink plush interior is included. The case is extremely clean, retaining all original latches, the brown leather handle, and small Gibson badge on the exterior. Also included are the original cable and strap, a series of photographs spanning decades with the original owner, and a letter provided by the family detailing the guitar's history.
