Up for sale, a 1951 National 1215 in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. Freshly serviced, this early National amp was manufactured in Chicago by parent company Valco, who made amps under the National, Supro, and Gretsch brands, among others. Powered by a pair of 6L6GC tubes and voiced through a pristine Jensen P12P 12" alnico magnet speaker, there's a midrange richness and detail to the breakup of this amp that is signature "Valco" tone. The bloom, light compression, and creamy nature of the sound reacts well with a variety of guitar pickups and makes this amp a perfect secret weapon for studio sessions, and it really shines with a microphone in front of it.

The point-to-point circuit has been thoroughly serviced with fresh electrolytic and signal caps from the likes of F&T and Sprague. The original transformers are present, and the Stackpole pots have visible date codes from the 32nd week of 1950. The tube complement includes a pair of Sovtek and Realistic-branded (matched) 6L6GC power tubes, an RCA 5V4G rectifier, and a combination of Raytheon and RCA valves in the preamp.

The speaker is the original Jensen P12P alnico magnet 12” driver, professionally reconed and boasting a Jensen foil decal on the bell cover with a date code on the edge of the frame translating to the 4th week of 1950.

The original linen weave (tweed) and “zebra” grillcloth show only minor edge wear, with red lettering on the plexi control panel and a pair of small bulbs to illuminate the panel.
