Up for sale, a 1950 Gibson GA-30 tube amp in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with a vintage canvas cover and partial manual. Very original and professionally serviced, this early Gibson amp features a 12" Jensen P12S speaker and matching 8" Jensen midrange driver. A two channel design with four inputs, the trio of Instrument inputs are quite a bit hotter than the Mic channel, and the Tone control has a modest sweep, with the help of the Bass Expander two-way switch. Pushing 14 watts via a pair of 6V6 power tubes, the amp offers chewy, churning gain when dimed, and lots of clean headroom and power, surprising given the output of most early '50s amps. Naturally geared for Jazz yet capable of raucous driven textures, the amp offers lots of detail and smooth, clear tone.
The point-to-point circuit has been recapped as needed, with modern power supply caps and signal caps installed as needed (all original caps also included). The power and output transformers are original and both date to '50, while the choke is a modern substitution from Mercury Magnetics (original choke also included). All of the original IRC pots are also present. The 6V6 power tubes are a modern pair of matched Electro Harmonics valves with low hours, with a vintage 5Y3 rectifier and vintage (likely original) RCA-branded metal can octal preamp tubes. The pair of Jensen speakers have near mint frames and viable cones, both dating to 1950.
The light brown textured covering is original and stunningly clean, with a darker brown frame around gold lattice grillcloth, complete with the original flawless raised Gibson badge. The chassis itself is equally as well-kept, with practically perfect silkscreen graphics and the original trio of dark burgundy chicken head knobs. The handle is a substitution, made out of a vintage belt.
The (ostensibly original) canvas cover is included with a plaid interior, along with the pulled caps and choke from the circuit.
